Voices of the Dead:
Conversation with Walt Whitman

Theodore Tagholm

Origin: Static Issue 06
Content: Audiovisual

Video: Voices of the Dead (M4V)

Theodore Tagholm’s great-great-grandmother was in touch with Walt Whitman via a spirit medium (several books were published as a result). Walt Whitman has got back in touch with Theodore via flickering fluorescent bulbs using a Morse-code cipher. The work explores notions of belief both in life and in art: the need for humans to rationalise and compartmentalise life.
